About
Hello, my name is Phylicia
Somatic Practitioner with a Master of Professional Counseling and a Registered Yoga Teacher, working with mind and body together, in Kuala Lumpur and online.
We’re shaped by everything we live through: our relationships, our cultures, the experiences we carry, the transitions we move through. I believe meaningful change doesn’t come from becoming someone different. It comes from a more honest, compassionate relationship with ourselves.
I’ve lived and worked across Asia, the Middle East, and the West. Ten years of that was teaching internationally, which gave me a front-row seat to how families work, and how people develop and grow, something that still shapes how I sit with clients today.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: people are rarely held back by a lack of insight. What holds us back is the capacity to stay with the more difficult parts of being human. Through body-based practices, reflection, and practical skills, I help clients build self-trust, meeting uncertainty and difficult emotions without abandoning themselves, so lasting change becomes possible.
Training & background
I come to the body from two directions: science and practice. The science is my formal training: a degree in biomedical science, a Master of Professional Counseling, and further training in Compassionate Inquiry and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. The practice is lived: a long-standing yoga practice, and years spent sitting with real clients, not just theory.
Most of that hands-on experience with individuals, children and families came through ten years of teaching internationally. Since moving into counseling and somatic work, I’ve also worked with clients across the UK, Canada, Turkey and Malaysia.
- Master of Professional Counseling, Monash University, Malaysia

How I work
I believe real change happens when we feel safe enough to be honest with ourselves, while also building the inner resources to trust that we can handle what we find.
In our sessions, I offer a space that is both holding and gently challenging. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build the practical skills to respond differently, changing not just how you see things, but how you move through the world.
I work as a Somatic Practitioner rather than as a licensed therapist. If you’re looking for licensed clinical treatment, or you’re in crisis, I’ll gladly help point you toward the right kind of support.
Come as you are.

A free exploratory call is the easiest next step. Fifteen minutes, nothing to prepare, and nothing booked or paid for until you know it’s right.
