Your first session

What to expect, no surprises

If you’ve never done somatic work before, here is exactly what happens.

It’s 60 minutes, over Zoom or in person

Whichever works better for you. Nothing to prepare, nowhere specific you need to be except comfortable.

It starts like a conversation

We’ll talk, about what’s bringing you in, what’s been happening, what you’ve already tried. This isn’t different from what you might expect from any first session with anyone.

There’s no touch, ever

Somatic work, working with mind and body together, doesn’t mean hands-on bodywork. It means paying attention to what’s happening in your body while we talk: your breath, your posture, where tension shows up. All of that stays entirely with you; I’ll never touch you during a session.

We go at your pace

If something feels like too much, we slow down or stop. You’re never pushed past what feels manageable. Noticing “not much” is still useful information, there’s no wrong way to do this.

Nothing’s expected of you

You don’t need to know how to “do” somatic work. You don’t need language for what you’re feeling. You don’t need to have a breakthrough. Most people just need to show up as they are.

It’s not woo, and it’s not clinical

No energy work, no diagnosing, no treatment plans handed to you on day one. Just a trained, grounded, human conversation that also pays attention to the body, because the body usually holds what talking alone doesn’t reach.
