Somatic work · Kuala Lumpur & online

You want change.
So why do you still feel stuck?

One-to-one somatic work, combining conversation with gentle body-based practices, for people who already know more than they give themselves credit for, and want to build the ability to actually stay with themselves in the moments that usually make them shut down, explain it away, or push through.

Phylicia Chin, Somatic Practitioner with a Master of Professional Counseling and a Registered Yoga Teacher. Trained in Compassionate Inquiry and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. 60-minute sessions, no touch, at your pace.

The somatic difference

Talk gave you the map.
The body is where you build the capacity to actually walk it.

This might sound familiar

From the outside, everything looks fine. Underneath, something keeps feeling off.

  • You replay the same scenes in your head, long after they’re over, rewriting what you should have said or done.
  • You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even done the therapy, and you’re still stuck in the same place.
  • You know what the right thing to do is, and struggle to go through with it.

If any of this sounds familiar, nothing is wrong with you. Chances are you already know more than you give yourself credit for. The hard part isn’t seeing it. It’s staying with it long enough to do something different, instead of shutting down, explaining it away, or pushing through.

And if you don’t have words for what’s off yet, no clear pattern, no big story, just a sense that something isn’t right, that’s fine too. That’s often exactly where we start.

Hello, my name is Phylicia

We are shaped by the experiences we’ve had, and the ways we learned to navigate them.

Sometimes we understand something clearly in our minds, and still find ourselves feeling or responding differently. That gap, between what we understand and what we actually feel or do, is where the body comes in. Our body is constantly reflecting our inner world to us via sensations. Like a smoke alarm going off before you smell the fire, your body often signals first.

My work combines conversation with body-based practices to help you explore this connection. By paying attention to both your thoughts and your body’s signals, we build a deeper understanding of yourself and new ways of responding to life.

I’m a Somatic Practitioner with a Master of Professional Counseling and a background in yoga, including certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher. I’m also trained in Compassionate Inquiry and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

Training & background

I come to the body from two directions: science and practice. The science is my formal training: a degree in biomedical science, a Master of Professional Counseling, and further training in Compassionate Inquiry and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. The practice is lived: a long-standing yoga practice, and years spent sitting with real clients, not just theory.

How it works, and you set the pace for all of it.

1

Book a free exploratory call

No forms to fill out beforehand, nothing to prepare. It’s a 15-minute conversation to share what’s bringing you here and ask any questions, for both of us to get a sense of fit before anything is booked or paid for.

Start here if you’re not sure somatic work is right for you, or you just want to see how it feels to talk to me first.
2

Book your first 1:1 session

If it feels right after the call, you book a 60-minute session, online over Zoom or in person in Kuala Lumpur. No commitment beyond that one session; packages come later, once you know this is working for you.

If you already know you want to start, you can skip the call and book a session directly.
3

Your first session

We start with conversation, what’s going on, what brought you here. As we talk, I’ll invite you to notice what’s happening in your body alongside it: breath, posture, where tension shows up. There’s no touch involved, and you set the pace throughout.

Ongoing sessions, at your pace

Some people come for a handful of sessions around one specific pattern. Others continue longer, working through things as they surface. After your first session, we’ll talk about what makes sense for you, and if it helps, 4- and 6-session packages are available at a reduced per-session rate.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
Carl Rogers

My approach

“Our relationship with ourselves shapes the world we experience.”

I believe real change happens when we feel safe enough to be honest with ourselves, while also building the inner resources to trust that we can handle what we find.

In our sessions, I offer a space that is both holding and gently challenging. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build the practical skills to respond differently, changing not just how you see things, but how you move through the world.

What clients say

“One of the things I loved most about our sessions was your demeanor which made me feel like I am talking to a real, caring human being rather than some kind of scientist analysing and judging me under a microscope.”

Hassan · United Kingdom

“I felt like I was understood without judgements. For the first time I reached down to the depths of my childhood memories and I was shocked because I never believed that something like this can happen.”

Damira · Turkey

Some questions you may have

What even is somatic work?
“Somatic” simply means “of the body.” Somatic work pays attention to your thoughts and your body’s signals together, breath, posture, tension, sensation, because your body often registers what’s going on before words catch up. It isn’t massage or bodywork, and it isn’t talk-only either. It’s conversation, with your body included in it.
How do I know if we are a good fit?
The free exploratory call exists for exactly this. It’s 15 minutes, with nothing to prepare, you share what’s bringing you here, ask whatever you want to ask, and we both get a sense of whether this feels right. Nothing is booked or paid for until after. Book a free exploratory call →
Are you a licensed therapist?
I work as a Somatic Practitioner rather than as a licensed therapist, a trained, body-based approach that draws on my Master of Professional Counseling, Compassionate Inquiry, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. If you’re looking for licensed clinical treatment or are in crisis, I’ll gladly help point you toward the right kind of support.
Is there any touch involved?
No. There’s no touch in any session, in person or online. You stay clothed, seated or moving as you prefer, and you set the pace throughout, including the pace of what you choose to talk about.
Do sessions happen online or in person?
Both. Sessions run over Zoom for clients anywhere in the world, or in person in Kuala Lumpur. Online works just as well for this kind of work, much of my client base is international.
What does it cost?
RM 150 per session for clients in Malaysia, USD 50 per session internationally. 4- and 6-session packages are available at a reduced per-session rate once you know the work suits you. See full pricing →
